Description: Microworms are an excellent food source for the smallest of fish. Many fry aren't yet able to fit brine shrimp in their mouths yet, so a smaller food source is needed. A culture of microworms can easily be maintained for when your fish need them! You will receive a sealed package of live microworms to start the culture. The heat sealed foil pack won't be able to leak out in transit and can easily be ripped open. The culture will be shipped in an envelope using USPS First Class Mail to keep shipping costs at a minimum. How to start a microworm culture Materials Needed:- 16 oz deli cup with lid (or similar)- Instant mashed potatoes (plain, no flavoring)- clean, room temperature water Instructions**:1. Add 3 tablespoons of instant mashed potatoes to the container.2. Mix in about 6 tablespoons of water. If too dry, add more water. If too wet, add more potatoes. They should be moist but not runny. Use a spoon or your fingers to flatten the potatoes in the cup. 3. Tear off a corner of the microworm package and squeeze out contents on top of potatoes. 4. Poke small air holes in container lid and cover the container. 5. Store the culture at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. After 5 or so days the culture will have grown and worms will be visible on the container sides. Time to feed! **The instructions above can be scaled for any sized container. Aim for about a half inch of instant potatoes in the container, and use about twice as much water as instant potatoes. Use a small paint brush or your finger to swab the worms out of the container and dip into the aquarium to feed the fish. A fresh batch following the instructions above should be started after about a month to maintain your microworm culture.
